COTTAGEVILLE — State and local authorities arrested five people accused of making methamphetamine in Colleton County.
The arrests follow a two-month investigation involving the Walterboro and Cottageville police departments and the State Law Enforcement Division. The agencies, along with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, used a statewide electronic database called NPLEx to track the purchase of illegal quantities of cold and allergy medicines that contain ephedrine, a key ingredient in making methamphetamine.
Keith Alan Williams, 46, of Cottageville is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.
Charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and disposal of methamphetamine waste are Lindsay Rebecca Ewers, 29, and Billy Ray Hinson, 32, both of Ridgeville, and Edward Lawrence Uren, 57, and Frankie Lavern Wiggins, 36, both of Cottageville.
