VICTORVILLE, Calif. (KABC) — A man who beat to death an Iraq War veteran has been sentenced to 81 years in prison.
Johnny Acosta was convicted of murder for the 2009 death of Trevor Neiman. Neiman, 25, was working as a cable television installer at a Victorville home when Acosta walked up behind him and bludgeoned him with a hammer.
Neiman served three tours of duty in Iraq and had just gotten married.
At trial, Acosta testified he’d used methamphetamine that day and heard voices telling him to kill somebody.
