Comments Off on Iranians Caught Smuggling Meth to Indonesia

The National Narcotics Board arrested three Iraninan meth smugglers at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta, on Monday. BNN Spokesperson Sumirat Dwiyanto said the three mules are all men and caught keeping capsules containing meth at 1.7 kilograms of weight.

“One man is found carrying 100 capsules; another two men are found taking 28 and 69 capsules each. A total of 197 capsules are detected at 1.7 kilograms in weight. They were aboard a Jakarta-bound airplane from Dubai,” said Sumirat on Monday.

He went on to say that between seven and eight drug couriers of Iranian nationality have been apprehended since January this year.

It is pointed out that more Iranians are chosen to transport drugs because they are cheaper compared to other couriers. A case was reported that an Iranian was paid US$2,000 while a Nigerian was worth US$5,000 for smuggling drugs.
