Comments Off on Reno youth activist sentenced to 2-6 years in prison for trafficking meth

RENO, Nev. — A longtime community youth activist in Reno has been sentenced to two to six years in prison for trafficking in methamphetamine.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports Washoe County District Judge Brent Adams imposed the sentence Friday on 40-year-old Roberto Nerey, who earlier pleaded guilty to the charge.

He was accused of twice selling meth to law enforcement authorities in an undercover sting last July. Authorities said he sold 27 grams of meth for $2,800.

As a young gang member, Nerey went to prison in the 1990s for his role in a drive-by shooting. He said he later made a positive change and founded anti-gang organizations.–Youth-Activist-Sentenced/
