Matthew Young, 31, of St. Albans pleaded guilty Monday in federal court in Brattleboro to charges he manufactured and sold methamphetamine in the Franklin County area in late 2009 and early 2010.

Young, appearing before U.S. District Judge J. Garvan Murtha, admitted he and several co-defendants conspired to make and sell the drug, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Burlington.
Young, who was facing a potential life sentence, made the guilty plea as part of an agreement with federal prosecutors that the government will recommend an eight-year prison sentence. His sentencing date was set for Aug. 15.
