A St. Augustine couple was arrested Thursday on charges of the manufacture and possession of methamphetamine after police found the drug being made in a room at the Scottish Inn at 420 Anastasia Blvd., according to the St. Augustine Police Department.

Bryan Eugene Gibson, 45, of the 600 block of South Holmes Boulevard, arrested on charge of manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug equipment, according to the police department. Tina Leslie Edenfield, 28, of the 2100 block of Deer Run Road, was arrested on charges of manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug equipment and maintaining a drug dwelling, according to police.

Officers were working on a cell phone theft case when they went to the motel room and the victim told them two people “cook meth” in another room every day, according to police. Police went to that room and found the stolen cell phone, then asked for permission to search. One officer found what he believed to be methamphetamine cooking in a duffel bag in a closet and evacuated the room for safety. Firefighters and environmental specialists wre called to the motel room to remove hazardous materials and the couple were arrested, according to the police department.
