BEAVERTON TOWNSHIP, Mich.— Authorities are investigating whether methamphetamine production was a factor in a fire at a shed in Gladwin County that left a man dead.

Booth News Service reports the fire happened Sunday behind a home in Beaverton Township, about 90 miles north of Lansing.

A methamphetamine response team from the Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team responded to the scene of the fire that killed a 51-year-old man. The team was joined by a Michigan State Police fire marshal and investigators from the Gladwin County sheriff’s department.

Authorities recovered suspected drugs, weapons and evidence consistent with methamphetamine production. The fire was under investigation.
