Port Huron Fire Department responded to a report of a shed fire about 1 p.m. today behind a residence in the 1100 block of Union Street.

While the fire was nearly out when crews arrived, officials discovered evidence of a methamphetamine lab inside the 10 foot by 10 foot structure, Port Huron Police Sgt. Roger Wesch said.

There was little damage to the shed. The fire was called in by a neighbor, Wesch said.

The investigation has been turned over to the Port Huron Police Department, the Richmond Post of the Michigan State Police and the Drug Task Force.

Officials were removing parts of the methamphetamine lab this afternoon. There were no injuries in the incident and no arrests have been made, Wesch said.
