A pregnant woman was among five people police arrested early Friday after police reported finding methamphetamine inside an Evansville home.

According to an Evansville Police Department probable cause affidavit, 20-year-old Kristina D. Benningfield told police she is four months pregnant after they allegedly found her under the influence of methamphetamine.

“Well, my baby likes it,” she reportedly told police after they confronted her about the effects of drugs on her unborn child

Police also arrested Benningfield’s boyfriend James J. Moore, 22, as well as Chastity A. Hertzberger, 23; Christopher J. LeSieur, 21, and Timothy W. Hart 20, after receiving a tip that methamphetamine was being made inside the home at 313 Read St.

All those arrested except for Hart live in the upstairs of the home, which LeSieur rents from the homeowner. The owner, who lives in the downstairs of the home, let police search the residence, according to the affidavit. During the search, police found several signs of methamphetamine production including more than 100 pseudoephedrine pills meth in its finished form.

Benningfield, Hart and Moore face a total of five preliminary charges apiece stemming from the bust including manufacturing and possession of methamphetamine. Hertzberger and LeSieur both face a preliminary charge of maintaining a common nuisance, a class D felony.

All five were taken to the Vanderburgh County jail.—04a0xmeth/
