BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Sheriff’s Department said that two men were arrested with over 40 pounds of methamphetamine Saturday.
Within the past week, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Major Violators Unit concluded a methamphetamine-to-Ice conversion narcotics lab investigation in Bakersfield.
The investigation led to a search warrant being served on June 4, at an auto-body repair business located near the intersection of Chamberlain and East California avenues.
Deputies said the search warrant resulted in the seizure of approximately four gallons of methamphetamine solution and several pounds of methamphetamine.
The four gallons of methamphetamine solution is estimated to contain/produce 32 to 33 pounds of methamphetamine, deputies reported.
The estimated street value of the seized methamphetamine is $1.8 million.
Jose Cachu, age 44, of Lamont, and Jose Salinas, age 40, of Bakersfield, were both arrested at the business where the conversion lab was located.
Both were booked into the Kern County Jail on charges of possession for sales and manufacturing of methamphetamine.
The investigation was a multi-agency investigation including the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Major Violators Unit, High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area and Immigration Customs Enforcement.
Officers of the Bakersfield Police Department Narcotics Unit assisted in the service of the search warrant.
