Comments Off on Grover Beach woman arrested after mailing package of meth to Virginia, police say

A Grover Beach woman was arrested today after allegedly mailing a quarter-pound of methamphetamine to Virginia.

The Pismo Beach Police Department on Thursday received information regarding a suspicious package to be sent to Virginia Beach, according to a news release.

The package was found to contain what was suspected to be a quarter-pound of methamphetamine, according to police. Investigators coordinated with the Virginia Beach Narcotics Team to deliver the package, and a suspect was arrested.

Pismo Beach police investigators then identified the person suspected of mailing the package, and today served a search warrant on a home in Grover Beach. The San Luis Obispo County Narcotics Task Force, the Grover Beach Police Special Enforcement Team and the Pismo Beach Police K-9 assisted in the operation.

In the home, officers found more than a quarter-pound of methamphetamine and a firearm that had been stolen June 2 during a burglary of an Arroyo Grande home, according to the news release.

Dixie Howell, 37, of Grover Beach was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sale and possession of a stolen firearm and booked into County Jail.

According to police, the methamphetamine seized — more than a half-pound total — has a street value of about $11,000.
