A tip regarding a person wanted on a warrant resulted in the discovery of a methamphetamine lab hidden in a closet of a Mills Township home.

The investigation began on Saturday afternoon when Midland County sheriff’s deputies received information that a 31-year-old woman who was wanted on a Gladwin County warrant was at a North Sturgeon Road home. Deputies found the woman, as well as a 28-year-old Port Huron man who also was wanted on a warrant, at the home.

A few hours later, the resident — who was not home at the time of the arrests — returned and reported finding the ingredients used to make methamphetamine. Again the sheriff’s office responded, this time to confirm the report.

Once the confirmation was made, deputies contacted the Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team and the Michigan State Police Meth Team. The sheriff’s office reports state the state police searched the home, locating a methamphetamine lab in a closet.

The case has been turned over to the state police.
