Nineteen people face drug charges in a 15-month state investigation into alleged pill shopping.

State Attorney General Linda Kelly announced the charges this morning as part of “Operation Border Bargains,” which involved the alleged purchase of methamphetamine-making materials in Erie County.

Kelly said evidence presented to a statewide investigating grand jury identified two separate groups that obtained pseudoephedrine in Erie County and brought it to Ohio to be used in making meth.

Eight of the 19 people charged in the investigation are in custody this morning, officials said. State drug agents also plan to serve a search warrant on an apartment in Girard where items used in making meth allegedly were found.
