Comments Off on Police raid methamphetamine lab next to playground

Police have raided a methamphetamine clan lab next to a children’s playground in Christchurch.

Detective Sergeant Dorothy McPhail said police had “real concerns” about the location of the clan lab in the suburb of Casebrook.

There have been numerous clan lab explosions in the past and some people have received serious injuries.

“Not only were those in the house where the lab was found at high risk, as well as neighbouring homes, but the children from the neighbourhood using the playground were also potentially at risk should there have been an explosion,” she said.

She said police had arrested two men aged in their 40s and a woman aged 20 will be appearing in the Rangiora District Court today.

They are facing charges of possessing equipment and materials for manufacturing methamphetamine.
