SHOW LOW, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities in northern Arizona say they’re arrested a 74-year-old man for allegedly transporting methamphetamine.

The Navajo County Sheriff’s Office says William Johnson remains in the county jail on $12,000 bond.

He’s being held on transportation of a dangerous drug, possession of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities say Johnson lives in the small town of Vernon and he was stopped for a minor traffic violation Tuesday in Show Low.

Deputies say they became suspicious when Johnson appeared to be nervous at the traffic stop.

A drug detection dog alerted authorities to Johnson’s car and led to a search.

They say several ounces of meth were found in Johnson’s possession and the drug had an estimated street value of $5,600.

It’s unclear whether Johnson has a lawyer yet.
