A man looking to score methamphetamine got himself arrested Sunday in Watonville, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Anthony Gabriel Tavara allegedly texted the number he had for his drug dealer, not knowing his source was dried up because the dealer had been arrested. The drug dealer’s cell phone had been confiscated by sheriff’s deputies so when the text message came in, a sergeant responded, posed as the drug dealer and set up a meet, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Tavara met with deputies—not his dealer—around 6:15 a.m. Sunday on the 200 block of Lee Road. He was arrested on suspicion of trying to purchase methamphetamine. Tavara got a citation and was released.
