Whitfield County Sheriff Scott Chitwood says his they’ve made a major methamphetamine bust.
According to a news releases from Captain Rick Swiney, during an ongoing methamphetamine trafficking investigation, detectives received information that a large deal was going to take place in a parking lot on Cleveland Highway Tuesday afternoon. They set up surveillance and saw the suspected trafficker, Jeffrey McGuire, and another man, Kenneth Gribble arrive. When officers approached the vehicle and identified themselves they say McGuire ran but was apprehended after a short struggle with officers.
They say he had a small amount of meth in their possession. Both suspects were taken into custody.
Following the arrest detectives search McGuire’s home at 2502 Hill View Drive and say they found more than a pound of meth with a street value of $50,000.
They arrested April Barton at the home. They say they also recovered more than $6,000 in cash.
April Michelle Barton, 39, of Ranger, Ga. is charged with Conspiracy to V.G.C.S.A., Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession with intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, and Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime.
Jeffrey Lamar McGuire, 39, was wanted at the time of his arrest for a felony Probation Violation. He is now also charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime and one misdemeanor count of Possession of Marijuana.
Kenneth Scott Gribble, 49, was charged with Possession with intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Trafficking in Methamphetamine, and Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime, all felonies.
All three are being held without bond.
