A man and a woman from Porterville have been arrested after a 2-year-old girl reportedly ingested methamphetamine.

Shortly before 5 a.m. Friday, Tulare County sheriff’s dispatchers received a report from Sierra View District Hospital in Porterville that the girl had been brought in and that she may have ingested the drug.

The girl had a high temperature, was sweating profusely and experienced seizures, according to a sheriff’s report.

Doctors determined that she had ingested methamphetamine and she was moved to Children’s Hospital Central California in Madera.

Sheriff’s detectives arrested Jose Tapia, 21, and Janet Cerrito, 23, on suspicion of child endangerment. The sheriff’s report didn’t say if the people arrested were her parents.
