Comments Off on Mesa traffic stop leads to arrest of suspected meth dealer

A man carrying nearly $1,800 cash was arrested Friday on suspicion of selling methamphetamine, according to Mesa police reports.

Rigoberto Zazueta, 20, was pulled over during a traffic stop around 10 a.m. Friday near Superstition Springs Boulevard and Power Road, police said.

Zazueta’s Mexican driver’s license did not contain an address, physical description or signature, and he was unable to provide evidence of who he was, police said.

Police found $1,777 on Zazueta, who told police he did not have a job, police said. When asked if it was his money, Zazueta did not reply, according to police.

A narcotic K-9 unit was called to search the car. A hydraulic car jack in the back seat was found to contain 12 balls of methamphetamine, police said.

Zazueta said it equaled about 6 ounces of meth, according to police reports.

Zazueta was arrested on suspicion of possession of a dangerous drug for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia.
