Sixteen people were arrested Wednesday in Williamson and Travis counties in connection with a methamphetamine production ring out of a Travis County home, according to a news release by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

The arrests were part of a joint investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration Tactical Diversion Squad. Those arrested had purchased mass quantities of pseudoephedrine — a medicine used to relieve nasal congestion that can also be used to make meth — from Williamson County pharmacies, the release said. State law requires pharmacies to maintain records of who purchases the medicine, the date and time of the purchase, as well as the location and amount of pseudoephedrine purchased. About 101,545 tablets of the medicine were purchased between Jan. 1, 2010 and May 30, the statement said.

Officials searched a house on the 21700 block of Highclimb Court in Travis County and found numerous other chemicals indicative of making methamphetamine as well as the drug methamphetamine, the statement said.

All have been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, a first degree felony, and face five to 99 years in jail if convicted.

Lynne Pfeffer, 52, Melissa Moore, 47, Gregory Hatch, 41, Sherry Lindsey, 36, Teena Chidester, 59, Ronald Allred, 57, Barbara Slawson, 53, Cynthia Williams, 61, Linda Pyron, 49, Joshua Giles, 38, Judson Joyner, 53, and Kimberly Turner, 42, are all in the Williamson County jail with bonds set at $75,000, the statement said.

Bridget Hopple, 45, is in the Travis County jail with bond set at $125,000. Tyra Stoddard, 52, and Edwin Oertli, 57, are in the Travis County jail with bonds set at $45,000 and Randy Hasty, 54, is in the Travis County jail with bond set at $15,000, the statement said.
