Linda Ellis is questioned by an officer after being  arrested Wednesday morning. Officials say she and her boyfriend Steve Faulkner  brought in up to 6 pounds of methamphetamine a week.

“It brings a horrible element within feet of a high school,” said  Pottawatomie County District Attorney Richard Smothermon. “It’s a horrible  combination for bad things to happen.”

Smothermon said there is no evidence drugs were being sold to students, but  it is possible.

Tom Wilsie, superintendent of Tecumseh Public Schools, said he wasn’t aware of the arrests  near the building.

“Any type of activity like that, you’re always very concerned,” he said.

Linda Ellis, 48, of Shawnee, and Steven Faulkner, 53, of Tecumseh, were  arrested about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.

They are thought to be at the head of the drug supply chain. If students were  receiving methamphetamine and other drugs, they probably got them from another  supplier down the line, Smothermon said.

Being caught with drugs near a school or church is an added offense.  Smothermon said final charges will be filed in the next two weeks.

About the drug sweep

The drug sweep, organized Wednesday morning at Shawnee’s Gordon Cooper  Technology Center, yielded 39 arrests in Lincoln, Seminole and Pottawatomie  counties, including some Thursday and one Friday morning. Four pounds of  methamphetamine and about 10 vehicles were seized, said Russ Cochran, assistant  district attorney in Pottawatomie County.

Officials said even though a major supply line was severed, the battle isn’t  over.
