Kirksville, Mo. — A local man was arrested near the north interchange of Highway 63 after officers observed him acting suspicious and allegedly found him in possession of methamphetamine-making ingredients.

Bradley Wilkins, 43, was arrested Sunday about 10 p.m. after an officer near the intersection of Highway 63 and Baltimore Street observed him acting suspicious as another patrol vehicle passed.

Wilkins allegedly stopped his motorized scooter and attempted to hide it on the side of the roadway as a Kirksville Police Department cruiser passed him. The second officer, conducting intersection observation, then watched Wilkins retrieve his scooter and continue along after the officer had passed.

Following a traffic stop, officers located a large plastic jug on the scooter that allegedly contained methamphetamine-making precursors and materials. Additional ingredients and materials, including a needle and two white powdery substances that tested positive for methamphetamine were also allegedly located Wilkins’ scooter.

Wilkins was eventually charged with the class B felony of attempting to manufacture a controlled substance and the class C felony of possession of methamphetamine.

Wilkins was being held in the Adair County Jail as of Monday afternoon on a $75,000 bond.
