Late Friday evening, a Pulaski County deputy was sent to a reported breaking and entering in progress at a home on Columbia Road near the Pisgah Baptist Church. An officer with the Dixon Police Department was called in to assist.

The Dixon officer had made contact with Sommer when the county deputy arrived, but seconds later, Sommer broke away and ran for the woods.

The officer and deputy were able to catch Sommer and restrain him. During the struggle, Sommer lost a blue vial containing a controlled substance from his pocket, according to the sheriff’s department.

The sheriff’s deputy spoke to the homeowner who stated that Sommer had come to her door and began knocking on the door loudly. She became fearful that he was trying to break in and called 911, the sheriff’s department stated.

It was discovered that a screen had been very recently torn off a bedroom window of the home, according to the sheriff.

Sommer was taken to the Pulaski County Jail and booked on a 24-hour hold. Sommer posted his bond set at $10,000 and was released from custody.
