Investigators served a search warrant on the house, in the 5500 block of Spruce Drive, Fort Pierce, on Monday and found alleged drugmaking materials, including a gallon of highly flammable Coleman fuel, in the garage and in a nearby garbage can.

House occupant Gregory Herndon was arrested on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. In the arrest warrant, investigators quote Herndon as saying he and another person, known only as Brian, made methamphetamine three times at the house in the quiet neighborhood. Herndon also was quoted as saying he was stopping the manufacturing because “Brian was getting out of control and he was getting scared,” the report states.

Herndon is in the St. Lucie County Jail in lieu of a $30,700 bail. The federal Drug Enforcement Administration assisted in the investigation.
