Comments Off on Two arrested on methamphetamine charges after traffic stop

Two Bryan residents are facing drug charges after sheriff’s deputies reported finding methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

A Brazos County sheriff’s deputy said he pulled Joseph Garrett over about 8:40 p.m. Saturday after spotting him driving 87 mph on Texas 21.

The 19-year-old told the deputy that he was showing off his new truck, police reports state.

Deputies found two bags of methamphetamine during a search of the truck, according to the police report.

Garrett told deputies the drugs belonged to the truck’s former owner, the police report states.

Garrett and the truck’s passenger, 21-year-old Shelbi Cheatham, were each charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, a state jail felony punishable by up to two years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

The two were released from the Brazos County Jail Sunday morning after each posted $5,000 bail.
