MOOERS FORKS — Five people have been charged in Monday’s meth lab bust here.

Members of the Adirondack Drug Task Force, including the Plattsburgh City Police Department SWAT Team arrived at 3199 State Route 11 in the Town of Mooers hamlet of Mooers Forks with an arrest warrant for petit larceny for John P. “Momo” Decoste, 50.

New York State Police Bureau of Crime Investigation Lt. Brent Davison said they had learned of alleged drug activity there and added reinforcement.

Instead of sending in one officer, we sent in a team,” he said.

Inside the apartment complex, authorities discovered an active methamphetamine lab, which led to the evacuation and decontamination of the building, according to a statement from Ray Brook-based State Police.

Police also reported finding an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine, along with a small amount of marijuana.

Decoste was charged with third-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, a felony, as well as petit larceny, a misdemeanor, based on the initial arrest warrant.

Decoste was arraigned in Mooers Town Court and committed to Clinton County Jail with no bail set.

Members of the New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team arrived later to assist other agencies in securing evidence.
