Two months after a Union County man and his wife were arrested on methamphetamine charges, the couple is back in jail following the discovery of another meth lab at a Monroe motel.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office said officers arrested 50-year-old James Edward Robinette Jr. on Aug. 10, after they caught him making meth at the Relax Inn on U.S. 74 in Monroe.

On Wednesday, after collecting video and other evidence, investigators also arrested Robinette’s wife in connection with the meth production at the motel.

Eva Marie Rankin, 35, is charged with possession of meth precursors, conspiracy to manufacture meth, maintaining a dwelling to store controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Her husband remained in Union County jail Wednesday under a $950,000 bond. He faces probation violation charges, as well as multiple drug-related offenses, including drug trafficking and drug possession.

The same couple was arrested in June when probation and parole officers checking on James Robinette, a registered sex offender, discovered a meth lab at an apartment on Round Table Road in Monroe.
