Comments Off on Morgan County arrests four in connection with methamphetamine manufacturing

DECATUR, Alabama – Morgan County drug investigators arrested four people Tuesday in two separate cases involving the making of methamphetamine, Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin said in a news release.

Roger Dale Guess Jr., age and address unavailable, and Christy Demastus, age and address unavailable, were both arrested on charges of manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, the news release said. Bond was set at $5,300 each for Guess and Demastus.

Guess and Demastus were both out of jail on bond after their arrests in May for manufacturing a controlled substance, Franklin said.

James Grantland, age and address unavailable, was arrested on a charge of loitering in a drug house, Franklin said. His bond was set at $300.

Guess, Demastus, Grantland and another person were in a home on U.S. 31 north in Hartselle when drug agents and Hartselle police served a search warrant at the home Tuesday, Franklin said.

Agents found Demastus hiding in a bedroom about two hours after entering the home, she said.

The search warrant was obtained after “numerous complaints” in the past week about drug activity at the home, she said. The home was known to agents because of the discovery of a methamphetamine lab there earlier this year, Franklin said.

Drug agents found a one pot methamphetamine lab in the home, along with material used to make meth, Franklin said.

Before leaving the home in Hartselle, the Morgan County Drug Task Force agents were notified of a traffic stop in Lacey’s Spring that could involved a meth lab at a Valhermoso Springs home, Franklin said.

Patrol officers found items used to make meth in a car driven by Todd Turney during a traffic stop, Franklin said. Turney told the drug agents that he had methamphetamine at his home at 6841 East Upper River Road, she said.

Turney and the agents went to Turney’s home, where they found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, Franklin said.

Turney, age unavailable, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, attempt to commit a controlled substance crime, and possession of a drug paraphernalia, she said.

Turney in is Morgan County Jail with bond set at $5,300, she said.
