A Hutchinson man charged in two cases with selling methamphetamine has also been charged with intimidating a witness, which prompted a Reno County judge to give him a bond of more than $1 million.

Jason Hadley, 35, was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Wednesday in the two drug cases, but the hearing was rescheduled for Sept. 6.The Reno County jail log indicates Hadley is being held on a $1.015 million bond, which is significantly higher than the $535,000 bond amount for Charles Christopher Logsdon, who is charged with killing 27-year-old Jennifer Heckel last year.

Jason Hadley, 35, was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Wednesday in two drug cases, but the hearing was rescheduled for Sept. 6.

On Aug. 10, Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton argued for an increased bond for Hadley after a witness in one of the drug cases reported being contacted by Hadley. District Judge Joe McCarville, who previously ordered Hadley not to have contact with witnesses in his pending cases, then set bond at $1.015 million, according to court records.

Hadley is charged with misdemeanor intimidation of a witness and violating a court order in July, and possession of meth with intent to sell in June and July in Hutchinson, along with other drug charges.

He was initially arrested June 19 after sheriff’s officers executed a search warrant at his apartment and reported finding steroids and ice meth. He posted a $29,000 bond to be released from jail. On July 30, Hadley was arrested in the 300 block of East Bigger Street, and sheriff’s officers reported he allegedly sold meth three times in Hutchinson over a 10-day period.

Hadley has the second-highest bond amount in the Reno County jail. According to jail logs, Zachary Wayne Lawson, 29, is being held on a $1.48 million bond. A $500,000 bench warrant was issued for Lawson after he failed to appear for a preliminary hearing on charges alleging he and two others kidnapped, beat and tried to rob a 28-year-old man last September in Nickerson. Lawson was captured in April in southwest Arkansas, where officers reported he was carrying seven loaded firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition in his vehicle.
