45-year-old arrested in connection with explosion

LOGANSPORT — The explosion of what police believe was a meth lab early Sunday morning led to the arrest of 45-year-old Logansport man.

Timmy Alan Leigh was arrested Sunday after the Logansport Police Department and fire department were called to a small fire and the explosion of what police believe was a meth lab at his residence in the 800 block of Spear Street. Leigh was at home with a 10-year-old boy, but neither were injured in the explosion.

Leigh faces charges of dealing in methamphetamine, a class B felony, and neglect of a dependent and possession of methamphetamine, both class D felonies.

LPD Lt. A.J. Rozzi said the explosion blew out two or three windows inside the house and caused some interior damage. He said the carpet inside appeared to have caught on fire, but it was out before police arrived.

The building housed two or three additional apartments and residents from at least two apartments were home at the time of the explosion, according to Rozzi. He said they were outside the house and unharmed before police arrived.

The Indiana State Police Department and the Cass County Drug Task Force were also at the scene, Rozzi said.

Though the boy was reportedly not injured, he was taken to the Logansport Memorial Hospital Emergency Room to be examined, Rozzi said.

Leigh remains in jail on a $5,000 cash and $25,000 surety bond.

The case remains under investigation with the Cass County Drug Task Force.
