SYRACUSE — As officers arrived at a home, responding to a call about an unwanted guest, they did not expect to see methamphetamine in plain sight.

Syracuse police were dispatched about the unwanted guest Wednesday and while talking to the residents, “officers found drugs in plain view,” according to a news release. Officers got a search warrant and found more meth.

“The meth was packaged in small containers, and it wasn’t just for one person,” Syracuse Lt. Tracy Jensen said.

Three children, ages 5, 4 and 2, were outside the home waiting for their grandparents to pick them up, Jensen said.

Officers arrested Dannielle Ann Thompson, 23, and booked her in Davis County Jail on one count of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and one count of child endangerment. She is being held in jail, with bail set at $15,000.

The children were released to their grandparents and to their father, Jensen said.

The Davis County Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case before filing formal charges in 2nd District Court.

Jensen said another woman, who was at the home, could also be charged following an investigation.
