Quincy woman arrested on meth charge

A 32-year-old Quincy woman was lodged in the Adams County Jail after her arrest Monday on a charge of unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

Brandy K. Payne, also known by Brandy K. Mefford, was apprehended by officers from the West Central Illinois Task Force, Quincy Police Department and Illinois State Police after a search warrant was served at 114 1/2 N. Seventh. A man at the residence was treated at Blessing Hospital after complaining of a medical issue during the search and arrest, police said.

Police said a juvenile at the residence was turned over to a family member, and a report was made to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services regarding the juvenile.

Payne is currently on probation in Adams County for unlawful possession of methamphetamine, according to the task force.
