An 18-month-old child was located in the residence

On Monday, the West Central Illinois Task Force served a search warrant at 931 Chestnut in Quincy. Arrested on the charge’s of Aggravated Participation in Methamphetamine Production and Methamphetamine Related Child Endangerment were residents David A. Day, age 48 and Angel D.R. Smith, age 23.

Seized as a result of the warrant was a shake and bake methamphetamine laboratory. Items seized included reaction vessels, Coleman fuel, sulfuric acid , salt, lithium batteries, glassware, and a large amount of methamphetamine waste. Agents also seized cannabis, hydrocodone pills, and drug paraphernalia.

An eighteen month old child was located in the residence during the warrant. Agents contacted the Department of Children and Family Services. The Department of Children of Family Services Investigators responded to the scene and took protective custody of the child.

Day and Smith were lodged in the Adams County Jail.

The West Central Illinois Task Force was assisted by the Illinois State Police Meth Response Team, the Quincy Police Department, and the Adams County Sheriffs Office.
