A Granite City woman and a Madison man were charged Sept. 11 in connection the bust of a methamphetamine lab in Granite City four days earlier.

Deliah Shepherd, 35, of Granite City, and James Hollins, 37, of Madison, were charged with felony aggravated participation in methamphetamine manufacturing. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of agencies from the Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois, responded to reports of a possible meth lab in the 2100 block of Robert Avenue, Granite City, on Sept. 7. Deputies searched the property and allegedly found materials for making meth and an active “methamphetamine cook.” Three children and an adult were in the home during the investigation. The children were released to family members. The adult was not found to be involved in the meth production and released. Investigators then linked the lab to Shepherd and her boyfriend, Hollins. Bond was set at $100,000 on both defendants.
