REDFORD — Another meth lab bust has led to the arrest of a woman and her teenage daughter.

Acting on information from a previous investigation, State Police obtained a search warrant and, on Monday, entered the home of Susan J. Filion, 46, of Redford.

There, State Police said, members of the Adirondack Drug Task Force and the Troop B Narcotic Enforcement Unit found materials used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Filion was cooking meth in the home, authorities said. She was charged with third-degree unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine, a felony.

Her daughter, Audrey Filion, 19, was also in the home at the time of the bust, and she was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

State Police said additional charges were pending further investigation.

The younger Filion was released on an appearance ticket, while her mother was sent to Clinton County Jail without bail.

ONE-POT METHOD

The Adirondack Drug Task Force is made up of members from the Drug Enforcement Administration, New York State Police, Plattsburgh City Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Border Patrol, Homeland Security Investigations and the Clinton County District Attorney’s Office.

State Police said the drug was being cooked using the common — and dangerous — one-pot method, which produces the drug in about an hour in a home, backyard or car with ingredients easily purchased at most stores.

The agencies have been busy cracking down on other clandestine one-pot labs throughout the area in recent months.

In July, State Police reported finding a lab at the Villa Motel in Keeseville where Shawn L. Gushlaw, 35, was allegedly manufacturing methamphetamine.

He was charged with third-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine and tampering with physical evidence, both felonies. Gushlaw also faced misdemeanor charges of criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

MORE ARRESTS

Later that month, authorities raided an apartment at 10 Eleanor Way in Plattsburgh, where three men were arrested in connection another alleged clandestine lab. Aaron M. Prim, 35, of Redford; Kristopher M. Peryea, 22, of Saranac; and Jamie H. Gaudette, 36, of Plattsburgh; faced felony and misdemeanor charges following the bust. As of Wednesday, they remained jailed, awaiting further court action.

Two days after that, Micheal F. Meigs, 35, of Plattsburgh and Francis H. Estes, 20, of Keeseville were arrested at a home at 6 First St. in the Town of Plattsburgh and were charged with the unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine.

STATEWIDE RECORD

Police remained busy in August, arresting another five people in connection with an alleged meth lab at 3199 State Route 11 in Mooers Forks after delivering an arrest warrant for petit larceny for John P. “Momo” Decoste, 50. He was charged with third-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, a felony, as well as petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

Michael C. Stone, 34, of West Chazy; Wendy F. Campbell, 37, of Chazy; Tarah L. Beaudin, 30, of Churubusco; and Stephanie L. Porter, 26, of 2 Depot St., Chateaugay were all arrested during that raid and charged with third-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, a felony.

Law-enforcement officials from the Adirondack Drug Task Force addressed the growing number of methamphetamine busts in the region during an Aug. 16 press conference at the Drug Enforcement Administration Office in Plattsburgh. At that point this year, Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge James Burns told reporters, a record was set in New York state for methamphetamine-lab seizures.

Then, Burns said, a total of 89 labs had been seized statewide since Jan. 1, eight of them in or around the Plattsburgh area.
