A man and woman who became embroiled in a domestic dispute while firefighters tried to fight a blaze at their apartment Saturday received some unwelcome news once the flames were doused:

Investigators found methamphetamine inside the home.

Allen County prosecutors formally charged Andrew T. Killen and Stephanie R. Shaffer – both 29 and of the 2400 block of North Wells Street – with a slew of felony counts Thursday.

Their charges include dealing and possessing methamphetamine, possession of materials used to make methamphetamines, possession of paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance.

According to Allen Superior Court documents, firefighters were called to the couple’s apartment to combat a fire when Shaffer and Killen began to fight outside.

Police were then called. While dealing with the couple, a fire investigator approached an officer and invited him inside to see the meth and items used to make meth, court documents said.

Shaffer was also charged with neglect of a dependent because her 4-year-old daughter was in the apartment, court records said.
