Four people have been arrested after Winter Haven police uncovered a meth lab at an apartment complex.

At about 10:45 a.m. Friday, police obtained a search warrant and found an active lab inside the apartment of Tammy Hill Ryan, 44, at Palm Place Apartments, a government-subsidized complex at 2401 2nd St. NW.

Inside, officers found Dylan Edward Shoemaker, 18, of Eagle Lake pouring an unknown substance down the kitchen drain. Vapor was seen as the substance mixed with water, indicating it was a toxic substance, police said.

In one bedroom, police found all of the components of an active meth lab. Another area of the apartment held items indicating the presence of another meth lab, though inactive at the time.

Ryan, Shoemaker, Edward D. Harvey, 43, who also lives at the apartment, and John L. Vona, 41, of Winter Haven were arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail.

Ryan was charged with maintaining dwelling for manufacturing with minor present; possession of methamphetamine in a housing facility with intent to sell; and possession of paraphernalia.

Ryan’s child was not home at the time of the arrest and is staying with a relative, police say.

Harvey was charged with maintaining dwelling for manufacturing with minor present; possession of methamphetamine in a housing facility with intent to sell; possession of listed chemicals for methamphetamine; possession of methamphetamine; and possession of paraphernalia.

Shoemaker was charged with tampering with evidence; possession of methamphetamine; improper disposal of hazardous materials; and possession of paraphernalia.

Vona was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.
