Border Patrol agents seized nearly 23 pounds of methamphetamine from a truck on Interstate 15 near Temecula Monday, Oct. 1, authorities said.

About 2:45 p.m. agents stopped a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer driving north on I-15 and questioned the 39-year-old driver, a Border Patrol news release said. In the cargo area of the truck, they found a large purple container with 15 bundles of methamphetamine inside, the release said.

The driver’s name was not released but Border Patrol officials said he is a Mexican national. The driver and the drugs were turned over to Riverside County sheriff’s investigators.

The Blazer was seized by the Border Patrol.
