Inside the home they found roughly 100 litres of Benzaldehyde — chemicals used in the production of illegal synthetic drugs like methamphetamine.

“These labs pose a significant risk to public safety as they often contain a wide range of volatile chemicals,” said Mounties in a release, adding that RCMP drug teams had to wear full safety suits with oxygen to be able to enter the property safely.

“If mishandled, they can cause a reaction that produces very dangerous chemical and vapours.”

The home is now considered to be safe, but investigators say teams are still working to dismantle the drug lab.

Mounties from Edmonton, Calgary, Killam aided in the investigation, as well as Canadian Border Services Agents.

Jaren Feser, 28, who lives and owns the residence, has been charged with chemicals for the purpose of producing methamphetamine, and possession of proceeds of crime less than $5,000.
