Probation officers were making a routine contact in the 700 block of South Orange Street with Thompson, who was on supervised early release because of the realignment of prisoners from control of the state to the counties. Thompson has previous firearms convictions, the release said.

The residents were slow to open the door, and Thompson was found hiding in a bathroom with meth and $3,000 on him, the release said. A search aided by a K-9 narcotics dog yielded other items, including materials that can be used in identity theft, the release said.
