Comments Off on Deputies arrest Meth-dealing squatters in White City

Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies raided a residence in the 7800 block of Jacqueline Way in White City Thursday at 6:04 p.m. where they reportedly located several squatters who were selling drugs.

Deputies had information that 24-year-old Brandon Alan Govenor, who had multiple warrants for his arrest, was at the residence. Deputies issued several verbal commands for the occupants to exit the residence and eventually 47-year-old Wayne Eugene Barnes answered the door and told authorities he was the sole occupant. However, officers executed a search warrant and located 29-year-old Richard William Myers Jr. in his room and Govenor hiding under the insulation in the attic.

A subsequent search of the property revealed 12 pounds and 14 ounces of marijuana, drug sales records, packaging materials, drying racks, methamphetamine, painkillers and stolen property.

Govenor was lodged for failing to appear on charges of two counts of burglary, two counts of possession of meth, two counts of theft and one count of identity theft. Barnes and Myers were jailed on charges of hindering prosecution.

The residence’s owner took repossession of the property and changed the locks.
