Comments Off on Gresham-area traffic stop leads to two arrests on Meth and drug charges

A traffic stop that took place late Monday along Intestate 84 helped Multnomah County Sheriff’s deputies find a stash of heroin and methamphetamine Tuesday at a Gresham residence.

According to Lt. Steve Alexander of the MCSO, the case began to break Monday evening when a deputy stopped a westbound vehicle along the freeway near Gresham. As the vehicle was slowing, the deputy saw a man in the car, later identified as Juventino Islas Campos, throwing packages from the window.

The deputy and his drug dog Spencer then recovered the packages and arrested Islas Campos, 25, and the resulting investigation led them to an apartment complex in the 20300 block of Southeast Morrison Terrace in Gresham.

Once there, they arrested Byron Reyes-Escobar, 29, and accused him of possession and unlawful delivery of heroin, and possession and unlawful delivery of methamphetamine.

Islas Campos was charged with possession and unlawful delivery of heroin.

Both men were taken to the Multnomah County Detention Center, where they are also being detained on immigration holds.
