JACKSON, MI – Police found the remnants of a methamphetamine lab Sunday in a house on Third Street.

In the upper story of the house at 601 Third St., officers found lithium batteries, tubing, unknown liquids, drain cleaner and other items indicative of meth production, Michigan State Police Detective Lt. Dave Cook said.

A substance believed to be finished meth will be sent to the state crime lab for testing.

Three people were written citations for frequenting a drug house and two others are expected to later be charged with operating a lab, said Cook, who leads the Jackson Narcotics Enforcement Team.

The house, near W. Franklin Street, was in “total disarray” and the city likely will condemn it, he said.

JNET had received a tip about the lab and asked the city police to check the house. When Jackson police confirmed meth had been made there, they called JNET, Cook said.

Officers on the drug team cleaned up the lab.
