A Marquand man has been charged with intent to distribute a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Bobby J. Kemp, 37, was arrested Jan. 28 after a federal search warrant was executed by the US Drug Enforcement Agency, division of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and the Missouri State Highway Patrol at the residence he occupied in Marquand.

According to a MSHP probable cause statement, agents found one-half ounce of a white substance, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine, two baggies of marijuana, 12 weapons and ammunition.

Kemp was arrested on the weapons charges because he is a convicted felon. He has prior convictions for burglary and attempting to escape confinement.

He was placed in the Madison County Jail and is free on $15,000 bond.

A hearing is scheduled for Feb. 28 before Judge Robin Fulton.
