Police arrested a 37-year-old man Monday in Oxnard after he swallowed methamphetamine, then took him to the hospital, officials said.

The Oxnard man was stopped on suspicion of a traffic violation near Cooper Road and Anita Avenue and was arrested, police said. He later told officers he was not feeling well, and when emergency personnel arrived, he told them he had swallowed methamphetamine, police said.

He was then taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, police said.
