MANSFIELD — Three people have been charged in connection with a meth lab found Jan. 14 at 425 Sherwood Drive.

Brittany Bassett, 26, Lucas Conrad, 26, and Jonathan Fankhauser, 31, were indicted on charges of illegal manufacture of methamphetamine in the vicinity of a school zone and/or juvenile, illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of meth in the vicinity of a school zone and/or juvenile, and two counts of endangering children.

The Richland County Prosecutor’s Office released indictments Monday.

The METRICH Enforcement Unit raided the home of Bassett and Conrad and reported finding two 1-year-olds, one belonging to the couple, inside the residence. They reportedly were baby-sitting the other child.

METRICH Commander Lt. Ken Coontz said items used to manufacture meth were discovered upstairs and in the backyard.

Coontz said law enforcement received a complaint that meth production and drug use were taking place in front of children.

Assistant Prosecutor Cliff Murphy described Fankhauser as an acquaintance.

“It’s alleged they were aiding and abetting each other,” Murphy said.

Murphy said the offenses occurred from Nov. 12 until the raid.

Also indicted was Robert Brisboy, 30, of Shelby, on charges of rape and felonious assault. He could receive life in prison if convicted of rape, which reportedly involved a boy under the age of 10.

The reported incident happened Nov. 12. Murphy would not talk about the felonious assault charge.

Brisboy’s trial is scheduled for June 8.

The grand jury also indicted Louis Minor, 46, on a charge of aggravated arson for a Jan. 8 fire at 74 Hedges St.

“The evidence shows he used to live at the place that went up in flames,” Murphy said.
