COOS BAY — After a month of racking up criminal charges that suggest a one-man petty crime wave, 21-year-old Kyler Beltran of North Bend is in the Coos County jail.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Friday, Jay Farr, owner of Farr’s True Value Hardware at 880 South First Street, reported to police he was following a man whom he suspected of stealing from the store. Police caught up with the pair and arrested Beltran.

Beltran had what police described as stolen property from Walmart in Coos Bay, stolen property from Rite Aid in North Bend and some methamphetamine.

Police took him to the Coos County jail, where he was booked and released on charges of second-degree theft and unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

Then, around noon Sunday, Coos Bay police encountered Beltran at Walmart and found him in possession of what appeared to be methamphetamine.

They arrested him and took him to the Coos County jail, where he remained Monday on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Police said it was the fifth time Beltran had been arrested during March alone.

During the month, he accumulated charges of unlawful entry to a motor vehicle, second-degree criminal mischief, third-degree theft, second-degree theft, second-degree burglary and unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

Beltran is eligible for release on $25,000 bail.
