LONG VIEW N.C. – Police executing a search warrant on Wednesday discovered a methamphetamine lab in a residence that a Long View couple shares with their young daughter.

After receiving information from a confidential source that Kenneth Orion Lee, 29, was involved in the use and sale of methamphetamine and marijuana at a residence at 150 26th Street SW, Sgt. J.K. Roberts of the Long View Police Department and another narcotics investigator opened an investigation.

Lee lives at the residence with his wife, Tiffany Craig Lee, 29, and their 9-year-old daughter, Roberts said.

Through the investigation, police collected enough evidence to obtain a search warrant for the residence. Members of the Long View Police Department, the Hickory Police Department, the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigation started executing the warrant at 10:33 a.m.

Inside the residence, law enforcement found a one-pot methamphetamine lab and methamphetamine precursors including lithium batteries, sulfuric acid and Coleman fuel.

Police recovered two grams of methamphetamine, two to three grams of marijuana, methamphetamine and marijuana pipes, digital scales and plastic bags containing methamphetamine residue in the residence.

Especially disturbing was a bag of methamphetamine found at the foot of the Lees’ bed. Roberts said the Lees’ daughter would have had to pass through her parents’ bedroom to get to her own bedroom and she could have picked up the bag of methamphetamine and ingested it without knowing what it was.

Roberts also noted that the residence is within 1,000 feet of a school.

Warrants were expected to be issued Thursday for the arrest of Kenneth Lee and Tiffany Lee. They are both expected to be charged with felony manufacturing methamphetamine, felony possession of methamphetamine precursors, felony maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, Roberts said.
