Yuma, Arizona – A Mexican national, with legal U.S. permanent resident status, was arrested by a Yuma Border Patrol Sector canine team while attempting to smuggle an estimated $630,000 worth of methamphetamine, yesterday afternoon.

The 35-year-old male was sent to secondary inspection at the I-8 checkpoint near Spot road when a canine alerted to his green Mazda truck. Upon further inspection, agents discovered approximately 11 pounds of methamphetamine behind the dashboard of the vehicle.

The man and the narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency.
