CHRISTIANSBURG – Two juveniles were present Sunday when Christiansburg Police Department raided a methamphetamine lab in a house on Scott Street in response to a tip, authorities said.

Virginia Department of Social Services removed the children from the residence, in the 1300 block of Scott Street, following the 11 p.m. raid on an “active” lab, according to Becky Wilburn, director of public relations for Christiansburg.

She said one of the suspects arrested during the raid, Michael Lee Yelton Jr., 45, is charged with allowing a minor to be present during manufacture of methamphetamine. He and Blanche Elizabeth Ottersburg, 43, also are charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and possession of precursors to methamphetamine.

Both suspects are being held without bond at the Montgomery County Jail.
